The sound of the renaissance fountain „Planetenbrunnen“ is the acoustically determinant element in the courtyard of the state house in Linz. The intervention consists of two parts. The concept of the installation in phase one is to change the acoustic perception of the site by subtraction and not by adding sounds. This is achieved by the shutdown of the fountain, every 5 minutes, for a period of 5min.
Due to temperatures below zero degrees the fountain has to be be turned off around the end of November beginning of December.
Around this period phase two of the intervention will take place: Now the sound of the fountain is added artificially by hidden speakers. The lack of a visual equivalent to the sound of the fountain is again an irritating moment. The two differing methods, substraction and addition of sound are testing the perception of the recipients in different ways.

Der Planetenbrunnen im Hof des Linzer Landhauses ist das akustisch bestimmendste Element an seinem Standort. Die Intervention besteht aus zwei Teilen. Das Konzept der Installation in Phase eins ist es durch Subtraktion und nicht durch Hinzufügung eines Geräusches den Ort und dessen Wahrnehmung zu verändern. Dies wird durch die Abschaltung des Brunnens, alle 5min, für eine Dauer von 5min erreicht.
Witterungsbedingt wird der Brunnen ca. Ende November Anfang Dezember ausgelassen und abgedreht.
Wenn dies eintritt, beginnt die zweite Phase der Intervention. Das Geräusch des Brunnens wird durch einen versteckten Lautsprecher wieder künstlich hinzugefügt und sorgt abermals für Irritation, da nun die optische Entsprechung zu den gehörten Klängen fehlt. Das in Phase eins angewandte Verfahren wird umgekehrt und stellt die Wahrnehmung des Rezipienten abermals auf die Probe.

Konstellationen ist Teil von Hörstadt Krypthophone. Mit neun "Kryptophonen" verwandelt Hörstadt die Linzer Innenstadt in den Wochen von 14. November 2011 bis 6. Jänner 2012 in den Hörort einer akustischen Schnitzeljagd. Klang- und andere KünstlerInnen haben insgesamt neun über den öffentlichen Stadtraum verteilte Klanginstallationen geschaffen.
